So recently I finally upgraded my cell phone from an HTC M7 (god rest it’s soul) to a Galaxy S8 because, well, my phone was on the verge of death. Like, for real. I put off getting a new phone for years because I dreaded having to move all 3 of my apps and 12 contacts–I’m that lazy. Regardless, after dropping my 4+ year old phone and actually breaking the screen for the first time in my 10+ years of owning phones, it was time to suck it up and deal with it.
Anyway, having a phone that doesn’t take two full minutes for a webpage to load and can actually hold a charge longer than 3 hours is pretty awesome. So, naturally, I found myself browsing the Google Play store like a kid who just got free reign to buy whatever they want at Toys R Us, where I came across a game called Landlord – Real Estate Tycoon.
It’s free, it’s fun, and it involves real estate. So Obviously, I downloaded it.
Landlord – Real Estate Tycoon is a location-based property management game, similar to Pokemon GO, except instead of running around and trying to catch pokemon you’re buying and selling real, physical properties in your immediate vicinity (as well as abroad). You can own shares of businesses along with others, or you can purchase them all up yourself and become a sole owner. You have to pay daily expenses on your properties, but they’re offset by the “rent” that’s charged, which you earn when people leave their “digital footprint” via which I assume is Foursquare, as the game is powered by them.

Case in point, it’s a lot of fun.
I’m not here to sell anyone on anything, which is impossible to do anyway since it’s a free game (of course, there’s the usual “buy coins to speed up ____!” nonsense, mind you), but simply just here to spread the word for such a fun game to waste time with. I’ve been having a blast this past week with the game, and I can now say that I’m a digital millionaire and the proud virtual owner of a Dunkin’ Donuts, a Pizza Hut, and a hospital–also, not to brag or anything, but I’m #7 on the local leader boards, so. Heh.
PS: If you do decide to give the game a go, you can sign up under my referral link right here. I’ll get a free extra 100 coins (the in-game premium currency), which is neato supremo. If not though, no worries.
Happy gaming, everyone, and I hope you all enjoy pretending to be the successful landlords that we all would love to be. The game is a nice stand-in while we all try to become real ones, haha.
