I’ve got a lot of other things that I should be doing, so I’m gonna keep this short and sweet — it’s time that I start looking for a new job.
The job I have offers security and all, and it’s not like the pay isn’t decent either. However, dealing with customers? A nightmare. I’m tired of customer service, and the longer I stay running around on this wheel, the harder it’s going to be for me to get off.
I’ve been looking into a few different new careers and industries I can slide into. I’d like to go back to school for IT in the future, but until I’ve got IT school money, that plan’s on standby. So, in the meantime, I need to find a gig that’s not in customer service.
So far I’ve had a few interviews for this title search/examiner position with a regional title company. It pays less, but I get to work on my own and there’s flexibility in my schedule. It’s also remote — the only time I have to leave the house is to go down to the courthouse to grab documents. Totally manageable. I should have a fourth — and hopefully final — interview coming up soon.
I said I’d keep this short and sweet, but I’m still going. Ha.
Of course I’m a little nervous about leaving my current job. Like I already mentioned — job security, decent pay, my tenure. But all I do is work and sleep, and I dread every single moment of my life knowing that in X amount of hours, I’ll be back on the phones and dealing with argumentative customers. Ugh.
Oh — I’ve also been looking heavily into AML/BSA compliance. It seems super interesting, monitoring bank transactions and fighting financial crime. I have a friend who works an an AML analyst who had suggested I look into it, and well, I’m definitely interested. So I’m going to spend the next couple of months or so to get some industry certs to make myself a more viable candidate before I throw my resume at a few companies.
For now, fingers crossed on the title search/examiner job.
